Meet the Management Team
Scott Shickler, CEO
Mr. Shickler is responsible for the vision and leadership of Global Education Technologies. He focuses his energy on assembling a team of experts, forming strategic alliances, and providing the direction and inspiration for strategic growth. The Wall Street Journal has described Mr. Shickler as both a serial and parallel entrepreneur with the experience of starting and growing several ventures in diverse industries. In the late 80’s, Shickler was an early pioneer as Vice President of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. In the 90’s he founded Educational Designs that Generate Excellence (EDGE) and later sold that company. In the last ten years, Mr. Shickler has acquired four education companies and remains focused on providing leading solutions for educators, administrators and students. Mr. Shickler has been featured on NBC News, CNN and in a host of publications including the NY Times and Inc. Magazine. Mr. Shickler is considered one of the nation’s leading experts in youth entrepreneurship and has authored eight books on the subject. He is also the founder of the Magic Wand Foundation – a non-profit organization that inspires youth to live their dreams.
Jeff Waller, CFO
Mr. Waller oversees all financial aspects of Global Education Technologies. He served previously as a senior financial and operational executive with Accenture Consulting and IXL Enterprises, working with companies such as Chase Bank, Compaq Computer, Merrill Lynch, and Amoco on new business concepts, capitalization strategies, organizational models, and financial and operational plans.
Mr. Waller holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Karen Martin - Executive Vice President,
Sales and Marketing
Ms. Martin has over 20 years of executive-level experience. She previously held several positions with McMillan-McGraw Hill, including Director of Operations of the Denver office, responsible for student information software development, and National Accounts Manager, responsible for the implementation and training rollout for the U. S. Department of Defense schools, the South Carolina D.O.E., the Georgia D.O.E., and the Memphis Public Schools.
Ms. Martin attended the University of Minnesota.
David Larson, Ph.D. -
Education Management Consultant
Dr. Larson has been a classroom teacher, principal, and district superintendent. He has been involved in designing record management and administrative software systems for school districts since 1980. Dr. Larson works closely with GET customers to determine their districts' needs and develop solutions to meet those needs.
Dr. Larson was the founder and Vice President of Reunion Software Solutions prior to the merger of Reunion and Horizon in 1998. He has also held positions with CTB McGraw-Hill, Columbia Computing Services, Tamarac Systems, and Custom Data Systems Specialists.
Dr. Larson holds a Ph.D. in School Administration from the University of Denver and a BS in Elementary Education from Black Hills State College.
Dave Celecki - Vice President, Technology/Medicaid
Mr. Celecki is a Certified Network Engineer (CNE) and assists clients in optimizing their network environments. Since 1989, Mr. Celecki has specialized in software system design and consulting, with a special emphasis on database programs. He is recognized as an industry leader in database and administrative systems for the school district office.
Mr. Celecki has held positions with the Minnesota State Department, Mercedes-Benz, Inc, Cap Gemini Sogetti, and Thermo-King. He is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Computer Science.
Greg Chisholm - Vice President
Account Management/Client Services
Mr. Chisholm has over ten years experience in the IT field, as well as in support and quality assurance. His background includes 13 years with Moore Information Systems and U.S. Army service.
Mr. Chisholm holds an A.A. in Computer Information Systems from Troy State University plus Accredited Computer Technician (ACT), A+, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certifications.
Mitch Schlimer - Business Advisor
Mr. Schlimer is an entrepreneur with a gift for recognizing market needs and developing innovative solutions. His marketing communications and video production companies, Impac International and Impac Productions, were retained by Blockbuster Video, Dunkin Donuts, and hundreds of other companies throughout the world.
In 1994 Mr. Schlimer began hosting the national radio talk show Let's Talk Business, dedicated to entrepreneurship, small business, and franchising. The radio show has expanded into the Let's Talk Business Network, which is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs learn from each other.
